Did you know that originally Santa Claus comes from Finland? He does and next year, World Juniors visitors will have a good chance to meet him in Helsinki.

In addition to meeting Santa, visitors can enjoy the Christmas spirit all around the Finnish capital city.

The Christmas lights along Aleksanterinkatu, the main shopping area in the city centre, have been turned on every year since 1949. Although the Christmas season starts already in the end of November, World Juniors visitors will be able to enjoy the Christmas spirit throughout the Championship.

On New Year’s Eve local people flock to the Senate Square to enjoy the official celebrations. The program begins with a speech by the mayor and continues with special performances of music, dance and magic. At midnight the sky fills with spectacular fireworks.
