The Swedish Ice Hockey Association announced the 26 players who will participate in the training camp for the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship in Helsinki.

Head coach Rikard Gronborg named three goaltenders, eight defencemen and 15 forwards.

19 of the players join from domestic competitions while the rest is under contract in North America including last year’s first-round draft picks Adrian Kempe (Ontario Reign) and William Nylander (Toronto Marlies), who both play in the AHL. Also Nylander’s younger brother Alexander, one of two players from Canadian Hockey League teams, was called. Three other players join from U.S. college teams.

The roster also includes three players born outside of Sweden. Beside the Nylander brothers, who were born in Calgary while their father Michael played for the Flames, Dmytro Timashov was born in Ukraine but grew up in Sweden and plays in Canada since 2014.

An unusually high number of 12 players were part of the U20 national team that finished fourth in the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship in Toronto and Montreal last winter including goaltender Linus Soderstrom, defencemen Sebastian Aho, Andreas Englund, Gustav Forsling, William Lagesson, and forward Christoffer Ehn, Axel Holmstrom, Anton Karlsson, Adrian Kempe, Oskar Lindblom, Jens Looke and William Nylander.
